Inspection & Testing
Inspection & testing of an installation helps safeguard the user against serious injury.
O&D Electrical Ltd is governed by the National Association of Professional Inspectors & Testers, NAPIT is the industry’s non-profit-making, independent, voluntary regulatory body covering the whole of the United Kingdom.
NAPIT promotes professionalism and encourage high standards within the engineering and construction industry.
The different types of test certificate are:
Electrical Installation Certificate (Commercial) or Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate
BS 7671 requires a standard form of electrical installation certificate (including a record of the inspection and the results of the tests) to be issued for all new installation work, and for alteration and additions to existing installations.
Minor Works Certificate
BS 7671 requires inspection and testing to be carried out on all installation work including addition and alterations, the same as for new installations.
However, providing the alteration or addition is minor but does not include the provision for a new circuit, a Minor Works Certificate can be issued instead of an Installation Certificate or a Domestic Installation Certificate.

EICR (Electrical installation condition reports) also known as : Periodic Inspection Report (Commercial) or Domestic Periodic Inspection Report

Every electrical installation deteriorates with age and use. It is important for the person responsible for the maintenance of the installation to be sure that the safety of the users is not put at risk, and the installation continues to be in a safe and serviceable condition. It is necessary therefore for the installation to be periodically inspected and tested and a report on its condition obtained.
